Janie I. Ovans, the youngest daughter of George and Marie Ovans who was born April 16, 1882 in Northumberland, England, passed away May 3, 1962.

When she was 1 year old, the family came to the United States and settled in Monroe county, Iowa, where she lived until moving to Madison county.

At the age of 80 years and 17 days, she passed away in the Wilden hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Samuel Shaw, August 29, 1903.

She was a member of the United Brethren Church at Albia, Iowa.

Her mother, father, two sisters and two brothers and husband preceded her in death.

She leaves to mourn her passing, two sons and a daughter: George Shaw of Earlham, Paul Shaw of Dexter and Josephine Golightly of Earlham, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren besides a host of relatives and friends. She loved her home and was a kind, loving mother and grandmother.

Funeral services for Mrs. Janie Shaw were held Saturday, May 5th at 2:00 p.m. in the Evans Funeral Home.

Rev. Stephen Cree was in charge of the services. Mrs. Marlin Brittain played the organ and accompanied Mrs. Edwin Smith and Mrs. Von Fletcher as they sang. Marie Standing and Mildred Brittain were in charge of the flowers.

Casket bearers were Don Shaw, Gene Golightly, John Chase, Harley Cline, Leonard Scar, and Hubert Thompson. Interment was in the Earlham Cemetery.
