Helen L. Goodwin, 81, of Winterset, died May 8, 2004 at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 11, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Robert Barrick officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.
Helen Goodwin was born April 9, 1923, in Webster to Alva James and Florence(Beem)Roberts. She was a 1940 graduate of Winterset High School. On Sept. 28, 1941, she married Herbert Ross Cickering. Following his death, she later married Fred J. Goodwin on Feb. 4, 1947, in St. Joseph, Mo. Helen, a lifetime resident of Winterset, was a retired bookkeeper. She was a member of Eastern Star, V.S.W. Auxiliary, Legion Auxiliary, Jolly Dozen Bridge Club, Lakeview County Club and First United Methodist Church in Winterset. She also was past chairwoman of the Madison County Democrat Women.
She was preceded in death by both husbands; three sisters in infancy; a grandson, Randall S. Lathrum and a sister, Dorothy Doud.
She is survived by three sons, Chet R. Chickering and Gary R. Chickering, both of Winterset, and Vince Goodwin of Lakeville, Minn.; one daughter, Sherry K. Lathrum of Winterset; and seven grand-children and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
