Funeral services for Stella Mae Olson, 91, were held Sat., Jan. 11 at Earlham United Methodist Church with the Rev. Nova Wells and the Rev. Ted Morelock officiating. She died January 9 of Alzheimer's disease at Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines.

An Earlham resident most of her life, she was born July 17, 1900 to Fred E. and Lela (Walmsley) Brown in Clay County and attended school in Earlham. She married Carl Lust in 1918 who preceded her in death and then married Ernest Lull who also preceded her in death.

In 1975 she married Albin "Ole" Olson, and they made their home together in Earlham until she went to live at the Earlham Manor Care Center in October 1988. She was a homemaker and member of the United Methodist Church, Friendly Circle and Earlham Garden Club. She helped establish and served for several years as site manager for the Earlham Senior Citizens meals.

She was preceded in death by her former husbands, her parents, a brother and a sister.

Surviving are her husband; her daughter, Dorothy Skinner of Newton; a sister-in-law, Anna Brown of Earlham; a brother-in-law, Guy Wright of Florida; two granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Burial was at Palo Alto Cemetery, Newton, with Pastor H. Eugene Cedarholm officiating at a graveside cemetery service.

Stella Mae Olson, 91, of Earlham died of Alzheimer’s disease Thursday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Earlham United Methodist Church, of which she was a member. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. at Palo Alto Cemetery in Newton.

Mrs. Olson, a homemaker, was born in Clay County and lived in Earlham most of her life.

She is survived by her husband, Albin; a daughter, Dorothy Skinner of Newton; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at McKee Funeral Home in Earlham.
