OBITUARY

Emeline George Hadley, daughter of Evan and Asenath George, was born near Ackworth in Warren County, Iowa, August 8, 1853. This was her home until 1866 when her father moved his family to Dallas County on a farm near Bear Creek Church. She was a birthright member of the Friends church and was converted in her father's home, when a child.

She was the third of 10 children, only one of whom is still living, her youngest brother Charles W. George of Minneapolis, Minn.

On August 28, 1871 she was married to Jesse S. Hadley. To this union were born six children, Emmet E. Hadley, of Terra Cela, Florida, Arthur W. Hadley of Hominy, Okla.; Waldo E. Hadley of Earlham; Pearl Brauer of Oskaloosa, Iowa; Isom D. Hadley of Wooster, Ohio; and Homer G. Hadley of Fredericksburg, Iowa. Besides these children she leaves 15 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

In 1886 the family moved to Earlham, which place was her home until 1925 when her husband passed to his eternal reward. Since that time she has made her home with her daughter, Pearl Brauer of Oskaloosa, and with Homer Hadley at Fredericksburg. In these homes she gladly gave her strength to assist as she could.

She departed this life Sunday morning April 14, 1935 at the age 81 years, eight months and six days, having been in failing health for about a year, during the last three months of which she had times of intense suffering.
