McBride: Mrs. B. J. Ladd, who had been a sufferer of consumption for several years, died May 17th. The funeral was preached by Rev. Jones, after which she was conveyed to the Jefferson cemetery. She leaves a husband and eight children.

Martha A. Ladd, who was sick so long with consumption, passed away on Saturday, the 17th, at five o'clock. She laid in wait for her time to come; at last it came. She passed away without a struggle.

She was a good, kind, hard working mother, and was a great loss to her family.

Her funeral was preached on Monday the 19th at 9 o'clock A. M., by Rev. Jones, of Van Meter. Her funeral was a large one, and the sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved family in their sad affliction.

She was born in 1835, age 55 years, 2 months and 8 days.
