James Sidney Marks

James Sidney Marks, eldest son of Wm. A. Marks, Sr. and Mary Marks was born in Dallas County, October 8, 1869, and after a short illness died at Earlham, February 22, 1930 aged 60 years, 4 months and 14 days. He received his education in the public schools of Dallas County and in the high school at De Soto. He united with the Methodist Church at De Soto when a boy, where his membership has always been held.

He was united in marriage with Grace Kramer, August 3, 1892. to this union were born four children, two daughters, Mrs. Marie Baumgardner, of Bird City, Kansas; Mrs. Greta Palmer, of Oklahoma City, Okla., and two sons, Claude, of Earlham, and Harold, of Dexter. Mrs. Marks preceded him in death January 22, 1916.

He was again married, December 9, 1926 to Mrs. Blanche White. To this union was born one daughter, Margaret Gertrude. She with the four other children and seven grandchildren survive him.

His life was spent in and around De Soto and Earlham excepting four years when he lived at Waukee.

Besides his immediate family he leaves to mourn his passing his aged mother, three sisters, Mrs. Jennie McKibben and Mrs. Anna McKibben, of Earlham and Mrs. Etta Stanton, of Los Angeles, Calif., and two brothers Will and Frank, of De Soto, besides a very large circle of relatives and friends.
