Curtis James Barnett, 94, of Bayberry road, died Wednesday night in the Norway hospital where he had been a patient for three weeks. A retired fruit grower, who maintained a ranch for many years in Colorado, Mrs.(Mr.) Barnett with his wife, Mrs. Anna Clark Barnett, who survives him, had made his home for about six years at New Canaan, Conn. Address which is the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles M. Rohrabaugh.
Born in Walla Walla, Washington on December 18, 1860, Mr. Barnett was one of 10 children and at the age of five, crossed the country from Washington with his family in a covered wagon. His parents settled in Earlham, Iowa, where Mr. Barnett grew up.
After retiring from the fruit ranch in Grand Junction, Colorado, the couple lived for a number of years in California. Coming from there to New Cannan, Conn. Besides his wife and daughter Mr. Barnett is survived by three sons the Rev. Gayle Barnett of Carlanville, Illinois; Harley Barnett of Delta, Colorado; Willard Barnett of Pico California. Two sisters, Mrs. William Jackson and Mrs. E. S. Compton of Earlham, nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral service was held at 10:30 Saturday morning in the Chapel of the Congregational church with the Rev. Loring D. Chase officiating. Interment in Lake View Cemetery.
