Funeral services for Veva Young, 85, were held Fri. May 22 at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Zona Lautt officiating. Mrs. Young died of a heart ailment May 20 at Madison County Memorial Hospital.
A lifelong Winterset resident, she was born May 9, 1907 to Charles and Albia (Cox) Breeding and married Myles Young III on June 29, 1930. After her husband's death, she became a primary owner of M. Young and Company which was founded in 1884 and had been continuously owned by members of the Young family. Earlier this year, the family sold the business; and it is now known as Winterset Livestock Company. Mrs. Young was a homemaker, retired music teacher and a member of First United Methodist Church, Women's Club, United Methodist Women, P.E.O. and Pythian Sisters.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother.
Surviving are three daughters, Meredith Easter of Winterset and Susan Robinson and Vanna Cook, both of Muscatine; a brother, James Breeding of Winterset; two sisters, Evelyn Wight of Rock Island, Ill. and Vanna Olsen of Ventura, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Burial was at Winterset Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to her church or Madison County Health Trust.
