MABEL DOROTHEA AURAND

Mabel Dorothea Friedericka Aurand, the daughter of Henry and Henrietta Braunschweig was born at Waterman Siding, O'Brien County, Iowa on September 5, 1896. She attended the country school near Waterman Siding. She was confirmed in the Lutheran Church on April 9, 1911. She was married to Albert Aurand at Sutherland, Iowa on June 29, 1916. They farmed at Hartley and Linn Grove.

In 1951 Mrs. Aurand moved to Des Moines. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Des Moines until her death. She passed away at the Maple Lin Nursing Home in Earlham after a heart attack on Friday March 7, at the age of 78 yrs. 6 mos., and 2 days. She is survived by two sons, Harold of San Diego, Cal., and Dwight of Waterloo, Iowa, one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Scar of Earlham, Iowa, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, five brothers, Eldo Braunschweig of Hartley, Wilhelm Braunschweig of Sutherland, Dr. Emil Braunschweig of El Cajon, Cal., Reuben Braunschweig of Marathon, and Dr. Henry Braunschweig of Ankeny, and two sisters, Mrs. Henrietta Swanson of Larrabee and Miss Zipora Braunschwig, a C.R.N.A. of Lake city.

The same obituary appeared in this newspaper with the following addition:

Memorial services were held at Zion Lutheran Church on Monday, March 10 with the Rev. Robert Tewes of Trinity Lutheran Church in Des Moines and the Rev. Norman Luecht of Dexter officiating with burial in the Penn Center cemetery, under the direction of the McKee Funeral Service.

Casket bearers were: Timothy Braunschweig, Bill Baldwin, George Cosson, Howard Benz, Carl Jobst and Norman Scar.
