Winterset Madisonian - November 1992

James King, 90, died October 27, 1992, at Des Moines General Hospital from complications of diabetes. Funeral services were held Thurs., Oct. 29 at St. Patrick's Irish Settlement Catholic Church with burial at St. Patrick's Irish Settlement Cemetery.

Mr. King was a lifelong resident of Madison County and was retired as a county employee in road maintenance. He worked for the county for over 47 years. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church for over sixty years and was a grandson of a pioneer settler in the Irish Settlement. He helped erect a historical monument in St. Patrick's Cemetery which marked the site of the first church, a log cabin built in 1856.
