Page 1Death of Wm. Parley Rogers
William Parley Rogers, one of the older residents of Madison county, died Thursday July 26th, at his home in Webster township, at the age of 84 years. Mr. Rogers was born in Michigan, January 15, 1844, but came to this county in 1867. Here he was married to Malinda Cox, December 25, 1869.
Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Rogers, but two sons died in infancy. Edward died in 1895 at the age of 23 years, and a daughter, Mrs. Wm. Stewart, died in 1918.
The deceased had been in poor health for some time. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Charles of Winterset, and Winfield at home, and Mrs. J. S. Hindman and Miss Edith. He also leaves 12 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one brother.
The Rev. Charles S. Land conducted the funeral services in the Oak Grove church Saturday morning July 28th, and burial was made in the Wight cemetery.
