Chalmer C. Shultz, 92, of Winterset and formerly of the Hayesville and Hedrick areas, died Dec. 13, 2005, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 16, at the Fremont Funeral Chapel in Fremont with the Rev. Mile Carlson officiating. Burial was at Brooks Cemetery in rural Hedrick.

Chalmer Shultz was born Jan. 8, 1914, in Keokuk County to John and Clara (Ritter) Shultz. He was united in marriage on June 2, 1934, to Ruth Miller in La Plata, Mo. He spent most of his life in Hedrick and Sigourney and had lived in Winterset for the past several years. A farmer for most of his life, Chalmer also operated a gas station in Hedrick for many years and was a driver for the late Dr. F.C. Perkins, also of Hedrick. He was a member of the Hedrick Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Rex and Frederick and an infant; and two sisters, Ruth Morrow and Viola Miller.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Winterset; three sons, Ronald Dean Shultz of Lakeland, Fla., Duane Arthur Shultz of Minnetonka, Minn., and Marvin Glenn Shultz of Winterset; and eight grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
