December 2005Mae Truth Patterson, 82, died Dec. 16, 2005, at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 19, at the Truro Congregational United Church of Christ with John Ottley officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.
Mae Patterson was born Sept. 28, 1923, to Jess Leo and Grace A. (Honnold) Waring of Peru. She was a graduate of Lorimor High School. On March 7, 1942, she was united in marriage to Carl Eugene Patterson in Bethany, Mo. They lived in Truro during the early part of their marriage, followed by 15 years in Norwalk and 28 years in Urbandale. She had spent the last eight years in West Des Moines. Mae worked at Hy-Vee for 18 years as a bakery assistant and cake decorator. She attended Cornerstone Community Church in Johnston where she was involved with the missionary group. She also had been a member of Sweet Adelines while living in Norwalk.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Ulrie Waring and J.C. “Jake” Waring.
She is survived by two sons, Craig Patterson of Des Moines and Dennis Patterson of Urbandale; and three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Cornerstone Community Church or Hospice of Central Iowa (Kavanagh House on 56th).
Funeral arrangements were handled by Kale Funeral Homes of Osceola and Truro.
