Mrs. Ida Welty of Winterset Dies

Mrs. Ida Welty, a resident of this community practically all her life, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 1952, at a Des Moines hospital. She was 88 years of age.

Mrs. Welty was the former Ida Florence Elsbury. She was born in Madison County April 9, 1864, a daughter of William and Nancy Elsbury. She lived for many years in the Oak Grove community and later at Macksburg. Her church membership was with the Oak Grove church and later the Macksburg Methodist Church.

She was married to John A. Welty Aug. 30, 1883. They were the parents of three children. Mr. Welty died about 30 years ago.

She leaves the three children, Mrs. Julia O'Brien of Jamesport, Mo; Nelson Welty of West Branch and C. D. Welty of Indianola; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. Emory Orris and Mrs. Lillie Hockenberry of Winterset and Mrs. Jennie Orris of Pasadena, Calif.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from Andersons Home for funerals conducted by the Rev. Glenn Parrott, pastor of the Winterset Methodist Church. Burial was made in the Wight Cemetery.
