Mrs. Myrtle May Ford Kuntz

Mrs. Myrtle May Ford Kuntz, the only child of Sylvenus (Dean) Ford and Ellmina (Ella) Jane Jelleson Ford, was born in Delphos, Kansas on October 21, 1879. When she departed this earthly life on February 12, 1968, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset, she had reached the age of 88 years, 3 months, and 21 days. Mrs. Kuntz was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson.

Mrs. Kuntz entered this world in a Kansas dugout home and accompanied her parents to Madison County
Iowa when she was a few months of age. She attended the public schools of Madison County prior to her enrollment in Simpson Academy in Indianola and her graduation from East High School in Des Moines. For several years she was employed as a teacher in the public schools of Des Moines, rural Madison County and in Winterset.

On June 17, 1903, she was united in marriage to Charles Henry Kuntz who survives his wife at home.
The Rev. R. W. Matheny officiated at the ceremony. To this union five children were born; Henry Dean Kuntz, Helen Ford,(Mrs. Garland (Howell), Genevieve (Mrs. Floyd Hart) and Virginia Ruth (Mrs. Dean Hart) all of Winterset and Charles Frederick Kuntz of Des Moines.

Soon after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Kuntz established their farm home west of Winterset where they lived until moving to Winterset in 1947

Mrs. Kuntz, was actively involved in the life and work of the West Star Methodist Church where she
served as pianist, church school teacher, superintendent of the primary department of the church school and in other capacities. She later was a member of the First Methodist Church of Winterset where she was a member of the Woman's Society of Christian service. For 16 years she served with her husband in the office of the Farmers Mutual Insurance association.

In addition to her husband and children, Mrs. Kuntz is survived by nine grandchildren, 22 great
grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends

Memorial services, conducted by the Rev. Everett K. Burham, were held in the First Methodist Church of Winterset on Thursday, February 15, 1968 at 2:00 P.M. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.
