Winterset Madisonian - July 1970

Mrs. Elmer E. Libby of Winterset died Wednesday, July 8, at Memorial hospital in Winterset, after an extended illness. She was 72 years of age.

Mrs. Libby was a life-time resident of Madison county. She was the former Bessie Pearl Kleatsch, daughter of Otto and Cora Smith Kleatsch, and was born here December 4, 1897.

She was married Feb. 27, 1917, at the Winterset Methodist church, to Elmer E. Libby who survives her.

Mrs. Libby was a member of the Methodist church.

In addition to her husband, she leaves two daughters, Mrs. Helen Snuffin of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Dorothy Morrissey of Winterset; a son, Merle Libby of Des Moines; four grandchildren; and a great grandchild.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Newton Coughenour, pastor of the First United Methodist church here. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
