Samuel Snowden Anker, son of Samuel and Sarah Anker passed away at his home following a short illness.
He was born in Guernsey County, Ohio on March 26, 1863, and departed this life on June 23, 1950, at the age of 87 years, two months and 28 days. He was a member of the Hopewell Methodist Church in Ohio.
On December 14, 1884 he was united in marriage to Sarah Margaret Clark who preceded him in death on April 8, 1940. To this union was born four children, William Orland of Atlantic; James LeRoy of Earlham; Agnes Custer of Altoona, and John Raymond of West Des Moines who preceded him in death May 10, 1948. One brother Wilbur Anker of Cambridge, Ohio. Others to mourn his passing are 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren and many friends.
Mr. Anker spent the last 35 years of his life in Earlham and community. He lay down to rest, and peacefully slept without awakening. His sudden passing was without suffering or pain. He was a kind and loving father and a friend to all.
Services were held Monday afternoon from the Presbyterian Church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. S. R. Overholser. Burial was made in the North Branch Cemetery.
