ROBERT LeROY ANKER

Robert LeRoy Anker was born July 9, 1911, in Valley Juntion (Junction), Iowa. Most of his school days were spent in De Soto, Iowa. He attended a meat cutting school in Toledo, Ohio, after which several years were spent at this trade.

He was married to Mildred Wagner of Early, Iowa, on May 30, 1936. To this union three children were born: Don of Karachi, Pakistan; Larry, U. S. Navy, Charleston, South Carolina; and James, a senior at Dexfield High School.

Robert served with the U. S. SeaBees during World War II. Mr. and Mrs. Anker have been in business in Oakland, Dexter and Redfield the past several years. He was also presently an employee of the HyVee stores in Des Moines.

While enjoying a few days vacation, he was stricken with a heart attack at Early, Iowa, on October 26, 1965.

Robert was a member of the Methodist Church of Oakland. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Council Bluffs and of the VFW of Oakland.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred; three sons: Don and wife, Carolyn; Larry and wife, Madylon, and James at home; four grandchildren; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Anker of Earlham; four sisters: Opal, Mrs. Dwight Ganoe of Winterset; Maxine, Mrs. Leo Jungman of Booneville; Thelma, Mrs. Ed Hunt of Anaheim, Calif.; and Jean, Mrs. Lyle Cook of Dexter; four brothers: Howard Anker of Paris, Illinois; Merle J. Anker of St. Louis, Mo.; Earl J. Anker and Charles Anker of Earlham.

He leaves a host of friends, both young and old. He was a true humanitarian, living his life in service to others.
