Mary E. Kephart, Winterset

Mary Elma Kephart, 79, of Winterset died of complications of a stroke Sept. 4 1997 at her home in Winerset. Funeral services were Sept. 8, 1997 at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with the Rev. Bob Epperson officiating. Burial was at the Peru Cemetery in Peru.

She was born April 26, 1918, in Macksburg to George and Tuttsie (Clement) Hulbert. She married Anderson Kephart on Dec. 5, 1936 in Newton. She was a homemaker and retired nurse's aide and a lifetime resident of Madison County.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother; one sister; her stepmother; and one great grandchild.

Surviving relatives include six sons, Wayne and wife Carol of Albuquerque, New Mexicao, Ernest and wife Joan of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, Jerry and wife Sharon of Arlington, Texas, Dale and wife Connie of St. Charles, Everett and wife Elaine of New Virginia and Harold and wife Debbie of Winterset; two daughters, Doris Dolton and husband Jeff of Winerset and Dorothy McDonald and husband Bill of Winterset; four sisters, Helen Burkholder of Winterset, Lora Tobeck of Des Moines, Evelyn Kephart of Leon and Billie Baber of Carlisle; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
