Frank G. Jorgensen - County Loses Leading Citizen

Madison County lost one of its most widely known citizens Monday, Dec. 4, 1967, in the death of Frank G. Jorgensen, Winterset. His death occurred at Memorial hospital here. He had been seriously ill since last summer, when failing health forced his resignation from the Madison County board of supervisors.

Mr.Jorgensen had been a resident of Madison County for 46 years. He was a successful farmer, and livestock feeder, public official, and civic leader

He had been a member of the county board of supervisors since 1960, serving twice as chairman. He was a prominent member of the Madison County Angus association for many years, served on the Madison County Fair board, the Iowa state board of mental health, and the 3-county board of mental health. He was affiliated with the Kiwanis club in Winterset and the I.O.O.F. He was long active in soil conservation and was the recipient of many awards in this field. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winterset.

Mr. Jorgensen was born at Kimballton on Nov. 6, 1901, and was 66 years of age at his death. He was a son of Chris A. and Anna S. Jorgensen. He was married at Macksburg Feb. 22, 1922, to Essie E. Harrison, who survives him.

In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Wilma Toulson of Wilmington, Del. and Mrs. Betty White of Des Moines, a son, Keith of Lorimor and nine grandchildren. He also leaves three brothers, Max Jorgensen of Ames, and Elmer and Ralph Jorgensen of Ankeny; and three sisters, Mrs. Thelma Thomas of Lorimor, Mrs.Norma Dorff of Massillon, O. and Mrs. Leona Young of Dayton.

Funeral services will be held this Thurs. at 2 p.m from the First Christian Church in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Marvin Behrens, pastor of the St Paul Lutheran Church. Burial will be made in the Winterset Cemetery.
