Death of Columbus McKibban

Columbus McKibban died in Aransas Pass, Texas on July 23d, aged sixty seven years. His body was brought here for burial on Monday, funeral services being held that afternoon at the home of his sister, Mrs. Abner Black, Rev. C. W. Stewart, of Indianola, conducting the services. Burial took place in the Clark Cemetery.

Mr. McKibban came to this county with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James McKibban, fifty five years ago, the family settling in Lincoln Township. For a number of years, he has lived in Kansas and Texas. In Arnasas Pass, he had been the attendant at the draw bridge of the Aransas Harbor Terminal Railway for seven years. Mr. McKibban leaves two sons, living in Murfreesboro, Arkansas, also two brothers, Louis and James, two sisters, Mrs. Abner Black and Mrs. Andrew Macumber, all of this county.

COLUMBUS MCKIBBAN

Columbus McKibban was born in Clinon County, Ohio, March 8, 1852 and died at his home in Aransas Pass, Texas, July 23, 1919. He moved with his parents from Ohio to Knox county, Illinois in 1854 and to Madison county, Iowa in 1864. Here he grew to manhood. In 1874 he was married to Miss Mary L. Drew. To this union were born Harvey B. and Ralph, both of Murfreesboro, Arkansas, Ralph having just returned from U. S. service in France.

Mr. McKibban moved to Kansas where he made his home for several years. On account of asthma trouble, he later removed to Aransas Pass, Texas where he soon found relief and here made his home until the time of his death. His wife preceded him about nine years ago.

Resides two sons, survive him, two sisters and two brothers; Mrs. Andrew Macumber and Mrs. Abner Black, both of Winterset, Louis McKibban of Macksburg, and James McKibban of Barney, and a granddaughter, Miss Agnes McKibban of Murfreesboro, Arkansas.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 28th at the home of Abner Black in Winterset by Rev. C. W. Stewart of Indianola, Iowa. Interment was at the Clark cemetery.
