Clifford R. Cleland, Des Moines

Services for Clifford R. Cleland, 64, Des Moines, a former St. Charles resident, who died Oct. 26 in Des Moines of cancer, were held Friday, Oct. 28 at the Ankeny Funeral Home. Burial was at the St. Charles Cemetery.

Born at Patterson, he had lived in the St. Charles area for 14 years and spent the past 18 years in Des Moines. He was a member of the highway maintainance force with the state Department of Transportation before retiring in 1980.

Mr. Cleland was a member of the VFW and a former member of the Saylor Township fire department.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia; a son, Everett of Des Moines; daughters, Mrs. George (Nancy) Ramey of St. Charles and Mrs. Lawrence (Anna May) Cook of Ankeny; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
