Phillip Corkrean, Winterset

Funeral Services for Phillip Corkrean, 66, will be held Thursday, April 16, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Father Frank
Palmer officiating. Visitation will be held at St. Joseph's Parish Hall, starting at 3 p.m.Wednesday with a vigil at 6 p.m. and Scripture services at 8:15 p.m. Mr. Corkrean died of cancer on Tuesday April 14, 1992, at Madison County Memorial Hosp.

A lifetime Madison County resident, he was born December 10, 1925 to James A. and Frances (Kirvin) Corkrean and served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He married Barbara McDonald on August 30, 1947 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

He was a member of the Madison County Board of Supervisors for 18 years, a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and St. Joseph's Catholic Church as well as serving on numerous boards and commissions. He farmed north of Macksburg for a number of years, moving to Winterset in the 1980s.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara; five sons, Mike, Tim and Joe, all of Winterset, Jim of Van Meter, and Paul of Bellevue,Neb.; five daughters, Peggy Harvey of Shinook, Mont., Julie Wheeler of Peru, Mary Allen of Winterset, Teresa Thompson of Macksburg and Jennifer Corkrean of Webster City; two sisters, Mary Corkrean of Fort Dodge and Sue Corkrean of Winterset; three brothers, John of Cumming
and Patrick and Larry, both of Winterset; and 22 grandchildren.

Burial will be at McDonald-Chase Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
