Flora Ethel Hess, Pine Island, Minn.

Services for Flora Ethel Hess, 94, Pine Island, Minn., who died Dec. 22 at the Pinehaven Nursing Home in Pine Island, were held Tuesday, Dec. 27, at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Zanker officiating. Burial was at the Clark Cemetery.

Born in Madison County Apr. 21, 1889, she was the daughter of James and Sarah Ann Rippey McKibban. She graduated from Winterset High School, the former Iowa State Teacher's College at Cedar Falls and was a rural school teacher in Madison County. She also attended Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines.

She lived most of her life in Madison County, but spent 11 years at Rochester, Minn., six and a half years in a Rochester nursing home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rochester.

She was married to Omer E. Hess on Jan. 26, 1921 in Madison County. He died in 1966.

Survivors include a son-in-law, Bourl Kaihoi of Rochester; a sister, Lucille McKibban of Des Moines; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, a daughter, three brothers and a sister.
