Glenn Shoemaker Died Thursday
Madison County Supervisor Since 1953.

Glenn G. Shoemaker of Winterset, a member of the Madison County board of supervisors since 1953 and a life-long citizen of Madison County, died Thursday Feb. 22, 1962, at Madison County Memorial hospital here. He was 62 years of age, and had been in the hospital about three weeks, after being stricken with a heart attack.

Mr. Shoemaker was born at Winterset July 30, 1899, a son of George M. and Clarrissa Wilkinson Shoemaker.

He had served three full terms on the Madison County board of supervisors, and was starting his fourth term when his death occurred. He was also a member of the Madison County Welfare board.

He was a veteran of World War I, and a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Winterset Christian Church.

Mr. Shoemaker was married April 11, 1936, to Gertrude V. Smith of Winterset. He is survived by his wife, and by their son, James G. Shoemaker, a student at Iowa State University in Ames. He also leaves five brothers and sisters. Mrs. Minnie Foster of Mapleton, Minn. and Jane, Carl, Ralph and Ruth Shoemaker, all of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Collins Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. John C. Porath, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Winterset. Burial was made,with military honors by the Green Rogers Post of the American Legion in the Winterset Cemetery.
