He was married in 1907, at St. Patrick's church in Lee township, to Ella Tiernan. They moved to Winterset, and for about 25 years he worked as a disc sharpener and did custom grinding work.

Mrs. Morrissey died in 1936, and he left Winterset in 1938, living in a number of Iowa communities before settling in Moline, where he had made his home since 1960.

Surviving are six children, Mary Morrissey of Moline, Mrs. Adorine Smith and John Morrissey of Davenport, Mrs Elizabeth Nanos of Chicago, Roger Morrissey of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Madge Masson of New York City. He also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Catherine Zeltmaier, Mrs. Nora Callahan Adams, and Mrs. Alice Olson, all of the Los Angeles area, and a brother, Edward, also of Los Angeles.

Requiem Mass was offered Staurday from St. Joseph's Catholic church in Winterset by one of his grandsons, the Rev. Fr. Michael Morrissey of Davenport. Burial was made in St. Patrick's cemetery in Lee township.
