Cecelia Bridenstine, Winterset

Cecelia Kathrine Bridenstine, 90, of Winterset, died April 30, 2002, of complications from a stroke at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 4, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset with Father Chris Hartshorn officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Cecelia Bridenstine was born Jan. 4, 1912, in Madison County to Patrick Edmund and Kathrine Anna (Bruns)Morrissey. She married Reese W. Bridenstine on May 22, 1942, in Winterset. Cecelia had worked as a receptionist for Drs. Hickenlooper and Chesnut. In the late 1940s, she helped her husband at the former Winterset Seed Store. A lifetime resident of the Winterset area and a Winterset High School graduate, she was a member of the American Legion Ausiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Joseph Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three brothers. She is survived by three sisters, Dorothy Hochstetler of Dexter, Marguerite Herrick of Indianola and Ruth Klemm of Sun City, Az; two sisters-in-law, Jean Bridenstine of Des Moines and Lucile Morrissey of Winterset; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Middle River Hospice. Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
