Dale Simmons, Winterset

Dale Simmons,(86), died October 11, 1993 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Funeral services will be at Collins Funeral Home on Thurs. Oct. 14, 1993 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Donald Frank officiating. Burial will be at the Peru Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon till 9:00 p.m.

He was born October 3, 1907 in Peru to Ora and Charlotte Foster Simmons. He married Gertrude Farr in June of 1927 in Indianola. He was a retired city clerk (for 34 years) for the city of Winterset. He moved to Winterset from Peru in 1933 where he was a bookkeeper and assistant cashier for the Peru National Bank; he also spent six years in the Madison County Auditor's office. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Knights of Pythias; long time volunteer of the Red Cross; and served on the Madison County Central Committee for the Republican Party.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Surviving relatives include his wife; one daughter, Sherry Elaine Bierma of Lorimor; two sons, Charles Simmons of Manchester and Gary Simmons of Ft. Wayne, Ind; eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
