Burial and graveside services for Gladys M. Smith will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Winterset Cemetery in Winterset. The Rev. Donald Jones will officiate.
Gladys M. Smith, 83, of Oaknoll Health Facility, Iowa City, died Tuesday at Oaknoll.
A memorial tea will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oaknoll Retirement Residence. There will be no visitation. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association. The George L. Gay Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Smith was born June 24, 1908,in Ackley, a daughter of Samuel and Rena Fraiser Wildebaur. She married Lloyd Harold Smith on Nov. 7, 1925, in Sioux Falls, S.D. She graduated from Lennox High School in Lennox, S.D. She was a housewife. She lived in Parkersburg, Rockford, Winterset, and Iowa City. While in Winterset her husband was the Madison County Superintendent of Schools from 1949 to 1970.She was a member of Chapter KP of PEO
Survivors include two daughters,Linda (Mrs. Herbert) Jordan of Iowa City and Mary (Mrs. William) Carpenter of Plymouth, Minn; and four grandchildren. Her husband, one son, her parents, one sister, and three brothers died earlier.
