Funeral services for Madolyn Alice Gordon Morrissey, 79, will be held Thurs., Sept. 17 at 10:30 a.m. at Collins Funeral Home. The Rev. Bob Epperson will officiate. Visitation is Wed., Sept. 16, from 3 to 9 p.m. Mrs. Morrissey died on September 14, 1992 at Bethesda Care Center in Winterset.

She was born in Winterset on June 27, 1913 to Charles William and Anna (Burns) Gordon. She married Bernard "Pat" Morrissey in Trenton, Mo. on March 3, 1931. She was a lifelong resident of Winterset and was bookkeeper for Morrissey Farm Machinery and Motors from 1938 to 1960. She ran her own store, Madolyn's Gift Shop, from 1960 to 1977. She was a charter member of the Madison County Historical Society and a member of the Madison County Antique Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernard Morrissey, a former Winterset mayor; a daughter; two brothers; and two sisters.

Surviving relatives include a daughter, Jean Morrissey of Fort Dodge; two sons, Eddy Morrissey of Peoria, Ariz. and James Morrissey of Vernon, Texas; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a nephew, Brian Morrissey of Winterset.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Madison County Historical Society. Burial will be at Winterset Cemetery.
