Ray Vannatta, Winterset

Funeral services for Ray Vannatta, 94, will be held Wed., March 20 at 2 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Clarence Lautt officiating. Vannatta died March 16 at his residence.

A resident of Madison County from 1908 to 1991, he was born November 19, 1896 to John Straun and Mattie (Fox) Vannatta in Irquios County, Ill. He married Helen Frey August 28, 1928, who preceded him in death, and then married Lucille McComb Sept. 12, 1968. He was a retired farmer, a member of First United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge in Winterset, and secretary
of the Peru Lodge and Winterset Lodge for a total of 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first and second wives.

He is survived by two daughters, Dorothy L. Decker of Peru and Mary Lou Andrews of Des Moines; a sister, Clara Agan of Peru, five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in the Peru Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Winterset and Peru Methodist Church
