Flossie Mae Curtis, daughter of John H. Curtis, and Phoebe Ethel Curtis was born August 16, 1904, at Warren County in Milo, Iowa, and passed away after a long illness May 14, 1976, at Madison County Memorial Hospital. She was 71 years, 8 months, and 23 days of age.
She was united in marriage to Earl Richard Allsup at Milo in June of 1923. She was baptized in the Christian Church at Milo.
They lived in Warren County for many years, moving to Winterset in 1951. They were engaged in farming. They moved to Earlham and lived there for many years, then back to Winterset, where they now live.
Flossie was preceded in death by her mother, Phoebe Ethel who died when Flossie was 4 years old, her father, John Curtis, a half brother, Homer Huggins, and an infant son, Guy Richard.
Survivors include her husband, Earl Allsup and six children. James L. Allsup, Helen M. Cooper, and Fern L. Douglas, of Earlham; Margaret A. Jurgensen, Earl Junior Allsup, and Robert L. Allsup of Winterset.
She also leaves one sister, Vera Johnson of Des Moines, and two brothers, Ebert Curtis of Des Moines and Howard Curtis of Carlisle. Twenty-one grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends. She was a devoted housewife and mother all her married life and very dearly loved by all.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, May 17, at 10:00 a.m. from the McKee Funeral Home. Burial was made in the Earlham Cemetery.
