CLARA PAULINE ALLEN

Clara Pauline, only child of Solon C. and Maude B. Welch, was born in Buxton, Iowa on February 15, 1906 and passed away at the Dexter Clinic Hospital on Sunday, May 3, 1959 at the age of 53 years, 2 months and 18 days.

When a small child, Pauline moved with her parents to Earlham, where she grew to womanhood.

She received her education in the Earlham Schools and also attended Des Moines University, after which she began her career of teaching.

On December 24, 1923 she was united in marriage to LeVon Allen of Earlham.

In 1935 the Allens moved to Dexter where they lived for 17 years before moving back to Earlham which has since been their home.

A son, Robert Michael, came to brighten this home on March 9, 1947 and has been a source of enjoyment throughtout the years. Robbie, as he is known to everyone was always uppermost in his mother's thoughts even during her illness.

Pauline taught in the Earlham and Dexter Schools approximately 25 years.

When a young girl, she united with the Methodist Church to which she has been a loyal member. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Revekah Lodges.

Pauline enjoyed working with little children and was much loved by all her pupils. She was a kindly person, a good neighbor, a loyal friend, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Her parents preceded her in death. Those left to mourn her passing are her husband, Von, and son Robbie, a foster sister Mrs. Ila Silverthorn; also an Uncle, William Welch of Los Angeles, Calif.; several cousins and a host of friends.
