OBITUARY

Sarah Matilda Wrightsman, daughter of Peter and Angeline Wrightsman was born January 12, 1879 in Morgan County, Indiana. She grew to womanhood in and around Monrovia, Indiana, and there received her education.

In 1898 she was united in marriage to A. E. Allen in Monrovia. Into their home were born three sons, William and Von of Earlham, and Charles of Meadeville, Pa.

In 1910 they moved to Earlham where she has since continued to make her home.

She passed away in her own little home in Earlham, May 4, 1939 at 6:30 p.m.

Beside the three sons and their wives there remain to mourn her loss, four grandchildren, Norma June, Berverly Jane, Mary Lou, and Martha, three brothers, Charles and Ollie of Moresville, and Everett of Earlham; two sisters, Emma York of Danville, and Alice Hornaday of Moresville; a nephew, Leonard Wrightsman of Danville, whom she raised from a young lad, beside a number of other relatives and friends.

Her parents, two sisters and a brother preceeded her in death.

Sarah Allen has been in poor health for a number of months, and was bedfast for eight weeks.

She joined the little Antioch Church near Monrovia when a young girl and continued a Methodist Portestant until coming to Earlham where she had her letter sent to the Friends Church here. Since that time she has been a most active worker in its Sunday School, choir, and various other church activities until failing heath prevented her labor.

Her whole life has been most marked for her quiet helpfulness to those who were sick or in trouble.

Her last days were blessed with a stream of friends and neighbors who called to proffer any aid or comfort at their command.

She is to be laid to rest in the old Whitelick cemetery near Moresville, Indiana.
