Charlotte Raye Meyer, 62, of Winterset died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 10, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.

Charlotte was born Aug. 12, 1943, in Lubbock, Texas, the daughter of Cecil and Ethel (Cole) Whited, and attended school in Creston, Iowa. She married Richard Mulhern, who preceded her in death, and later married William Meyer on Aug. 2, 1962.

During her career, Charlotte worked for Winterset Medical Associates as a CMA, club manager at Lakeview Country Club in rural Winterset as well as the Indianola Country Club, and most recently, as a CMA for Health Trust Physicians in Winterset.
Charlotte loved gardening and canning. She was an excellent cook and catered meals for the Indianola Country Club. She enjoyed Scuba diving, camping, traveling and was especially passionate about reading.

She is survived by her husband, William Meyer of Winterset; two daughters, Kimmie Kernes (Tim) and Laura Silverthorn (Larry), all of Winterset; three sons, Lt. Col. Russell Meyer (Tammy) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Douglas Meyer (Natalie) of Tulsa, Okla., and Brian Meyer (Tammy) of Johnston; a sister, Shirley Whited of Winterset; a brother, Gary Whited (Becky) of Knoxville, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren: Chad, Paul, Michael and Ashley Jurgensen; Holly, Nicholas and Bailey Meyer; Tyler and Derek Silverthorn; Jared Lewis, Michael, Zachary and Blake Meyer; and Sean, Jakob and Cole Meyer; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Richard Mulhern.
