December 2005Margaret Marie Henke, 90, of Oakland died Dec. 7, 2005, at her home.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Oakland Congregational Church-UCC. A private burial was held at Winterset Cemetery.
Margaret Henke was born June 26, 1915, to Fred and Caroline (Ulrich) Bausch of Burchard, Neb. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed at the age of 15 into membership of the Evangelical Reformed Church in Steinauer, Neb. She also was a graduate of Burchard High School. On Sept. 19, 1936, she was united in marriage to Dennis Henke in Seneca, Kan. In 1951, Margaret and her family moved to rural Oakland, where they worked on a farm for 13 years. Later, she and her family moved to rural Winterset. Margaret worked as a CNA at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset for 15 years. A few years after her husband’s death, she moved back to Oakland. She had been a member of the Wheeler Grove Church and United Church of Christ in Oakland, where she was involved with the women’s fellowship.
She was preceded in death by her husband, nine brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by four daughters, Fonda Rae Hering, Martha Lou Russell, and Donna Mae Brockman, all of Oakland, and Janet Margaret Bintz of Hancock; six sons, Jan Dennis Henke of Fairfield, Calif., Richard Fred Henke of Treynor, Robert Louis Henke of Oakland, William Dean Henke of Earlham, and Daniel Lee Henke and Joel David Henke, both of Winterset, a sister, and 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren
Arrangements were handled by Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland.
