Pauline Smith
Pauline Jane Richmond, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Richmond, was born April 13, 1857, in Lincoln township, Madison county, Iowa, and grew to womanhood in the same county.
On April 13, 1876, she was united in marriage to Wm. Francis Smith. To this union were born six children, Jacob, Emmitt, Nora, Josephine, Oscar and Susie. Oscar preceded her in death on November 12, 1886, and her husband on December 20, 1887, departed, leaving his widow and five children to battle their way in life, which she did faithfully and carefully.
About the year 1893, she gave her heart to Christ and united with the Pleasant View M. E. church. As she moved in later years she transferred her membership to Hebron, where she was a faithful member until her departure on October 14, 1928, at the age of 71 years, 6 months and 1 day.
She leaves to mourn her departure 5 children, 18 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters and a host of friends and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at the Hebron church October 16, at one o'clock, by the Rev. A. R. Weed, of West Star, assisted by Rev. Carter, local pastor. Burial was in the Pleasant View cemetery.
