Linza M., son of Andrew and Electa Macumber Bertholf, was born in Madison county, Iowa, September 26, 1855, and was the last surviving member of a family of nine children.

He grew to manhood on the Bertholf homestead in Lincoln township and after the death of his father he became owner of the home place, where he spent the greater part of his life.

He has been for many years an active member of the Modern Woodmen Lodge of Winterset. He was a man of great vigor and of unusual strength, until a few months ago, when he had a stroke of paralysis. He never regained his strength and was taken worse two weeks before his death, which occurred on April 11, 1928, at the age of 72 years, 6 months and 16 days.

He leaves beside his wife and children, six grandchildren, one great grandchild and many other relatives and friends.

Rev. A. R. Weed conducted the service in the Bertholf home Thursday afternoon, April 12, and the interment was in the Winterset cemetery.
