Earl Williams, Winterset

Services for Earl Williams, 76, who died Feb. 23, 1985 at Madison County Memorial Hospital of a heart ailment, were held Tuesday, Feb. 26 at First Christian Church, Winterset with the Rev. Charlie Morrow officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born Jan. 11, 1909 in Madison township he was the son of John T. and Ethel Anderson Williams. He graduated from Winterset High School with the class of 1927.

He was married to Cleo Clopton Aug.21,1929 at Storm Lake. The couple lived on the same farm all their married life and in 1947 he retired from active farming.

Mr. Williams was a long-time member of First Christian Church and served as both a deacon and elder for over 50 years.

He is survived by his wife,Cleo; daughter, Ardeth Crusan, Glendale, Ariz; a son, John and his wife, Janet, of Denver, Colo; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren; a sister, Mabel Burger of Storm Lake; and a brother, George of Davenport.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son and a grandson. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church.
