LLOYD CARL ALGREEN

Lloyd Carl Algreen, the son of Vern and Edith Algreen, was born September 23, 1925 at Dexter. He was injured in a farm accident June 27, 1958 and departed this life Sunday, June 29th at 2:00 p.m. in the Adair County Hospital of Greenfield at the age of thiry-two.

Lloyd went to high school in Dexter. He entered the Armed Services January 23, 1945. He served in Saipan and was honorably discharged on January 16, 1946. He re-enlisted and served in Europe until his discharge December 15, 1948. He was in active reserve and was recalled in September, 1950 and served in Washington until November, 1950.

Lloyd was united in marriage to Elfrieda Mathews December 30, 1948. their four children are Erich, Lillie, Lloyd J., and Patricia.

After his years in the Services of his county, Lloyd returned to engage in farming - one year at Macksburg, seven years at Earlham and near Greenfield since February of this year.

Those surviving to mourn his passing are his wife and children, father and mother, two brothers, Donald of Dexter and Pete who is in the Navy at Key West, Florida, other relatives, and many friends.

Lloyd was a member of the American Legion and the Presbyterian church, both in Earlham.

Services were held at Dexter Methodist Church, Tuesday, July 1st at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Paul Textor officiating. Music was by Mrs. K. M. Chapler and Robert Lawson.

Farm Accident Fatal To Lloyd Algreen 32

Lost Arm in Hay Baler Friday

Lloyd Algreen, 32, was critically injured in an accident on his farm near Greenfield Friday afternoon, June 27. Lloyd lost his right arm at the shoulder when the arm was caught in a hay baler while he was working alone in the hay field. A motorist driving along the road came to his rescue and he was rushed to the Adair County Hospital at Greenfield where he passed away at 2 o’clock on Sunday afternoon.

Lloyd is survived by his wife and four children, his parents and two brothers, by many relatives and a host of friends. Lloyd was a good farmer, and had purchased his own farm in February of this year.

Memorial services for Lloyd were held at the Dexter Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon, July 1, at two o’clock with Reverend Paul Textor officiating. Mrs. K. M. Chapler was organist and accompanied Robert Lawson while he sane two lovely hymns.

The many floral offerings were arranged by Mrs. James Adkins, Mrs. Lewis Webb and Mrs. Harold McFarlin.

The casketbearers were Ronald Wahlert, Gaylord Thompson, Marvin Schafer, Marion DeVault, Jack Lahey, and Warren Garwood.

Funeral arrangements were by the Evans Funeral Home and interment was in the Dexter Cemetery.
