Viola Jane Aldrich

Viola Jane Richey, daughter of Andrew and Frances Richey was born July 30, 1867 at Mechanicsville, Iowa, Cedar County and was called to her reward February 1, 1946. Age 78 years, six months and one day.

She was united in marriage to Edwin Dallas Aldrich, at Carroll, Iowa, September 30, 1891.

They lived near Carroll, Iowa, several years and in 1904 they moved to a farm north of Earlham where they continued to reside through the years.

To this union six children were born, Mrs. Chester Stanley of Earlham; Mrs. Harold Cook of Dexter; Mrs. Somer Prathers of Des Moines; Lester of Earlham; and Everett of Des Moines. One son Forrest preceded her in death October 15, 1917.

In her early girlhood days, she united with the Methodist Church at Dedham, Iowa; she was also a member of the Columbia Rebekah Lodge; and for several years a member of the Bear Creek Missionary Society.

To Mrs. Aldrich her home, children and their families were her greatest interest, her thoughts always being of them.

Kindness and love were the outstanding attributes of her character.

Although she had been in failing health for several years and no doubt oft times in midst of pain; she was patient, cheerful and always considerate of others.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband and companion for over 50 years, five children, one sister, two brothers, six grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
