D. Janice Jacobs, 66, of St. Charles died of complications from hip surgery July 6, 2001, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 9, at St. Charles Parish Church. Burial was at St. Charles Cemetery.
Janice Jacobs was born Aug. 26, 1934, to Paul Lewis and Coral Lenor (Hiatt) Hulbert of Conger. She was educated in the Martensdale, Peru and Winterset schools. She married Walter Eugene Jacobs on Sept. 25, 1949, in Lorimor. A resident of St. Charles since 1961, Janice had been a waitress at the Wakonda Club in Des Moines and also at the Covered Bridge Cafe in St. Charles. She had been a cook at Interstate 35 High School for seven years. She was a member of Model Chapter 174 Order of the Eastern Star in St. Charles, Rolling Wheels Camping Club and St. Charles Parish Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Walter, of St. Charles; three sons, Marty Jacobs (wife Evelyn) of Gowrie, Gayle Jacobs (wife Barb) of Winterset and Ron Jacobs (wife Lori) of St. Charles; three sister, Esteline Newell of Des Moines, Vivian Shaw of Perkinston, Miss., and Harriett Bomar (husband Jack)of South Shore, Ky; a half-brother, Paul 'Buck' Hulbert (wife Mary) of Des Moines; and seven grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Charles Parish Church.
