Services for Lester E. Hulbert, 66, St Charles, who died Sept. 12 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, were held Saturday, Sept. 15 at St. Charles Parish Church with the Rev. Chet Waterman officiating. Burial was at the St. Charles Cemetery.
Born Dec. 2, 1917 at Barney, Iowa, he was the son of Edgar and Dolly Philby Hulbert. He attended school at Barney and graduated from Patterson High School.
On June 27, 1958 he was married to Alice Mae Avitt of Monticello. He operated a service station for 25 years and was a past member of the Lion's Club, a past president of the St Charles Saddle Club and a past fire chief of the volunteer fire department. He was also a member of the St. Charles Parish Church.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Jerry of Des Moines, Frank and wife Wanda of St Charles, David and wife Cyndee of San Diego, Calif., and Roger and wife Carmen of Norwalk; seven grandchildren; a twin sister, Esther Read of Monticello; and a sister, Velda Morse of Winterset.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and two infant brothers.
