Rites Monday for Mrs. Roy Peed

Mrs. Roy M. Peed, a resident of Madison County for 42 years, died Friday, April 10, 1953, at the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines, after several month's illness. She was 67 years of age.

Mrs. Peed was born near Atlantic on July 14, 1885, a daughter of Columbus and Mary Jane Prall. Her early life was spent in that community. She was married to Roy Peed March 29, 1911, and their married life was spent on their farm south of Earlham. She was a member of the Worthington Methodist church, and the Women's Society of Christian service.

Surviving besides her husband, are their two daughters, Virginia, of Phoenix, Ariz, and Mrs. Ruby Melull of Glenview, Ill. She also leaves one grandchild; two brothers, George T. Prall of Des Moines and Arch D. Prall of Atlantic; and a sister Mrs. Rosella A. Acker of Griswold.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Anderson home for funerals conducted by the Rev. Glenn Parrott of Winterset, assisted by the Rev. John Latta, pastor of the West Star Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset Cemetery.

Funeral for Mrs. Peed Held Monday

Funeral services were held at the Anderson Funeral Home at Winterset for Mrs. Roy Peed who died Friday, April 10 at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines after several months illness.

Services were in charge of Rev. Glenn Parrott of Winterset, assisted by Rev. John Latta, pastor of the Worthington church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Those from a distance attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Melull and Laura, Glenview, Illinois; Virginia Peed, Phoenix, Arizona; Mr. and Mrs. Arch Prall and Wanda, Atlantic; Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Acker and Janice, Griswold; Mrs. LeRoy Acker, Massena; Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Acker, Wiota; Mrs. Abbie Kitchen, Mrs. Chas. Malone, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Malone and Emmert Adams, all of Atlantic; Mr. and Mrs. George Prall and Clara, Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Prall and Mrs. Clifford Cunningham, from Des Moines; Mrs. James Shepard, St. Charles; Mr. and Mrs. Fred McGee, Blocknell, Oklahoma and Mrs. Callie McNeil of Indianola.

Mrs. Grace Peed, aged 67 years eight months and 27 days passed away early Friday morning at the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines after an illness of a few months.

Mrs. Peed, the daughter of Columbus and Mary Jane Prall, was born on July 14, 1885, near Atlantic, Iowa, where her early life was spent.

On March 29, 1911, Grace was united in marriage to Roy M. Peed. All of their married life was spent on their farm south of Earlham. To this union was born two daughters, Virginia, of Phoenix, Arizona, and Ruby (Mrs. Fred Melull), of Glenview, Illinois.

Surviving besides the husband and daughters are one grandchild, Laura Melull; two brothers, George T. Prall of Des Moines, and Arch D. Prall of Atlantic, Iowa; and one sister, Mrs. Rosella A. Acker of Griswold, Iowa.

Mrs. Peed was a member of the Worthington Methodist church and a member of the Women’s Society of Christian Service.

A devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Peed was a friend to all who knew her.
