Lyle LeRoy Hart, 82, of Winterset, died Sept. 11, 2002, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset of complications of Parkinson's disease.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 14, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Robert Barrick officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery with military rites performed by American Legion Post 184 and V. F. W. Post 8142, both of Winterset, and Masonic rites performed by Evening Star Lodge 43, also of Winterset.

Lyle Hart was born May 12, 1920, in Madison County to John Arch and Eloise Perlina (Binns) Hart. He was a 1937 graduate of Macksburg High School. On Dec. 16, 1948, he married Irma Mae Burgus. Following her death, he later married Mary Enright Welty on Jan. 12, 1991, in Winterset. A lifetime resident of Madison County, Lyle was a retired farmer and World War II Army veteran. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. He also had been a member of Evening Star Masonic Lodge 43 AF & AM (50 years), Order of the Eastern Star Lodge 180 (50 years), American Legion V. F. W., Farm Bureau and Madison County Historical Society, of Winterset. He was a former Madison County Supervisor and Madison County Fair Board Member.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife (Irma), two brothers and a sister.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Winterset; two sons, Lyle Hart Jr. (wife Bette) of Raleigh, NC, and Don Hart of Dallas, Texas; two daughters, Marcia Tilley (husband Dan) of Stillwater, Okla., and Carol Powell (husband Jim) of Chandler, Ariz. six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in Winterset or the
National Parkinson Foundation.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
