Mrs. Elizabeth Lucas Garrison died at her home in Winterset on Friday, Jan. 9, after a period of declining health and strength.

W. G. Lucas her father, came to this county over 65 years ago, bringing his family to a farm in Douglas township, which became their home for 46 years. The marriage of this daughter of the Lucas household to John Garrison, took place in 1875, his death occurring nine years later from a lightning stroke. Since that time Mrs. Garrison's unselfish devotion to her three children in their growth from early childhood to maturity has been noted by all who have known the family. Her small grandson whose father died four years ago, has been in her care. A daughter, Miss Olive and a son, William E. survive their mother; one brother, W. O. Lucas and one sister, Mrs. Albert Guye, are left of a family of eight children.

The memory of Mrs. Garrison's life of self sacrifice and broad generosity will remain after her death to remind her relatives and friends of her real Christian spirit.

Funeral services were held in the Baptist church where her membership had been placed years ago; Rev. George D. Rogers conducting the services.
