MORTUARY -- Sarah Allbright Bard --

Sarah M. Allbright, daughter of David and Mary Allbright of Trumbull county, Ohio, was born Nov. 19, 1835. She was reared in a religious household, her father being a minister and her mother a member of the Methodist church.

She was married to John S. Bard, Oct. 2, 1851, and to this union were born six daughters: Laundria, dying in infancy, the others still survive her: Mrs. Verna B. Getchell, Spokane, Wash.; Mrs. Ida M. Godfriaux, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Jennie E. Puterbaugh, Robertsdale, Ala.; Mrs. Genia Y. George and Mrs. Lillian M. Yates of Winterset.

After their marriage they resided for a few years in Trumbull county, Ohio, coming to Iowa in a covered wagon in 1858. It required seven weeks to make the trip. They settled on a farm eight miles northwest of Winterset, where they resided for several years. The farm was known as Stringtown and the post office was located in the home.

They removed from Madison county to Indianola, in order to give their children better school advantages. From there they moved east of Winterset, where they resided until her husband's death May 2, 1896. She then lived in Winterset, spending part of her time with her daughters. She returned from her daughter's home in Chicago about four weeks ago and spent a week with her daughter, Mrs. Lillian Yates, then went to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Genia George, where she remained until she passed away, Sept. 2, 1921.

She was a member of the West Star Methodist church, a devoted christian and a great worker in the Sunday school, conducting a class for a number of years.

She leaves to mourn her death, the five daughters, seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church by Rev. Jackson Giddens, the pastor, and the remains were laid to rest in Winterset cemetery.

"We shall meet beyond the river
Where in all the bright forever
Sorrow shall ne'er pierce the soul"

We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the friends and neighbors for the kindness during the death of our beloved mother, and for the beautiful floral offerings and those expressing sympathy for us in our bereavement. Mrs. Lillian Yates, Mrs. Genia George, Mrs. Ida Godfriaux.
