Death of Leo Rose

Bevington. June 20. Special - Leo Rose, bachelor, aged 71 years, died suddenly here last Monday morning at nine o'clock of heart failure. Over exertion was caused by his strenuous efforts in mounting a mule which he was taking to pasture. After riding the mule about two blocks he drove a stake into the ground and fastened the mule thereto. After walking a few yards he fell to the ground. He was seen to fall by Martin Gavin, who summoned G. F. Bussanmas. They bore him to his home where he expired shortly after, speaking only a few words. A physician was called, who pronounced the cause of death to be heart trouble. The body was taken in charge by G. F. Bussanmas, as none of his relatives live near here. Mr. Rose was born on a farm one mile north of here, and after attaining manhood went to Kansas, where he lived until the death of his father, when he came to live on the old homestead. Becoming unable to work, he sold the farm and lived in various places until about a year ago, when he opened a soft drink and lunch counter in the old Bevington bank building.

He is survived by one brother, Clemm, of Missouri, and three sisters, Mrs. E. Wagner of Des Moines, Mrs. Magdalena Wiedman of Creston, and Mrs. Mary Weisbrod of Moravia, California. Funeral arrangements are awaiting Mrs. Weisbrod, who will arrive here Thursday.
