Word was received here Wednesday morning, of the death of Mrs. W. B. Thompson of Pasadena, California, Tuesday, March 13. Mrs. Thompson was the mother of Jay Thompson, Ralph Thompson and Mrs. T. A. Barr, of Winterset, and was a former resident of this county.
The deceased was 72 years of age. She had a stroke several years ago and had been in poor health since that time. She became critically ill a week ago and gradually grew worse. The Thompson family formerly lived near Vinton, in Benton county, and came to Madison county in 1910. In 1920 they moved to California, but they came back here for a short time, about four years ago.
Funeral services will be held in Pasadena, but the family had not heard of the definite arrangements Wednesday afternoon.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by her husband and four children, the three of Winterset, and Mrs. Elmer Cowan formerly of Missouri, but more recently of California.

Former Resident of County Dies at Pasadena Home—Had Been An Invalid Several Years
Mrs. W. B. Thompson, 72 years old, died Wednesday morning at her home in Pasadena, California. Several years ago she was stricken with paralysis and had been almost helpless most of the time since. Her condition became serious about a week ago, physicians saying she could not recover. She was the mother of Mrs. T. A. Barr, Ralph Thompson, and Jay Thompson, all of Winterset. Another daughter, Mrs. Elmer Cowan and Mr. Cowan moved to California several years ago to help care for her mother. Mr. Thompson also survives.
Mrs. Thompson was a native of Ohio and came to Iowa when a little girl, the family settling in Benton county, near Vinton. They moved to Madison county in 1907 and lived on the farm just north of Abrahams’ school in Douglas township. Coming to Winterset they purchased the property on east Washington street now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Barr. Mr. and Mrs. Thompson moved to California eight years ago. Funeral services and burial will be in California.
