REBECCA STILES

Rebecca Lovelace was born in Smicksburg, Indiana county, Pennsylvania, Aug 3, 1848, and died at her home in Winterset May 9, 1915, aged 66 years, 9 months and 6 days.

When a child, she moved with her parents to Madison county, Iowa, in May, 1857, and settled in Walnut township.

She was married to Geo Bardrick in Winterset, Aug. 2, 1864. To them were born five children. Two died in infancy. The three living are Mrs. Emma Wilson, David E. and G. Albert Bardrick, all residents in or near Winterset.

Mr. Bardrick died Sept. 21, 1889, in Winterset and was buried in Rock City cemetery. Her wish will be granted by being laid to rest by the side of her husband.

She was married again to Thomas Stiles of Patterson, Iowa, at Winterset, July 4, 1891. Mr. Stiles died in Winterset Nov. 24, 1905, and was buried in the Blair cemetery in South township, this county.

Besides her three children she is surrounded by her two sisters, Mrs. Anna Parrott of Audubon, Iowa, and Mrs. Mary Palmer of Lake Charles, La., and her four brothers, Brenton Lovelace of Dallas, Ore., John Lovelace of Audubon, Iowa, Clark Lovelace of Colby, Kan., and Charles Lovelace of Huston, Tex., also the children of Mr. Stiles, Albert and Charles Stiles and Elizabeth McGinnis of Patterson, Iowa, and Mrs. Stiles of Kansas City, Kan.

Mrs. Stiles joined the M. E. church in Winterset July 8, 1866, but she leaves the record that the most remarkable event in her life was on Dec. 1, 1898, during the pastorate of Rev. Riheldaffer she experienced a great outpouring of God's spirit which entirely changed her whole life and ever after she had no doubt of her acceptance with God. She was patient in her last sickness, made all the plans for her funeral and disposed of all her household effects.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist church on Tuesday at two o'clock, conducted by her pastor and assisted by Rev. J. S. Corkey of the Presbyterian church and E. R. Keller. The W.R.C. And the W.C.T.U attended in a body.
